The Teacher's Tongue

James' instruction to tame the tongue extends to all Christians. However, it is also true that teachers especially ought to tame their tongues. The tongue is a fire, and fires lead to people getting burned. We live in a world that celebrates a feral tongue, but followers of Jesus cannot celebrate the same things that the world does in this realm. The mouth that brings forth praise to God, cannot also bring cursing toward those who bear God's image.
