Matthew 8:23-27, Acts 3:15, Acts 20:28

The doctrine of the Hypostatic Union helps us to understand the person of Jesus. Jesus is Truly God and truly man. In this lesson, we discuss some heresies concerning the person of Jesus. The heresies of apollonarianism as well as monophysitism, also known as eutychianism. These heresies while incorrect help us to clarify our understanding of orthodox theology concerning Jesus.

In the year 451 an ecumenical council in Chalecdon gathered to settle the matter of Jesus' person. The council produced what we now know as the Chalcedonian Creed. This is sometimes also called Chalcedonian Definition or Chalcedonian Formula. If you would like to read the text of this creed you can do so at this link from CCEL.
