This is the 3rd longest Psalm in the Psalter. It is the end of book three. In this Psalm, Ethan the Ezrahite writes of the fall of the kingdom of Jerusalem. He is looking at the events around him and wondering if God is still going to be faithful to his covenant to David. How will God keep the promises of 2 Samuel 7? In this text we see that Ethan mantains his faith, and regularly reminds the reader, and himself, that God is always faithful and that God is abounding in steadfast love. Even in the hardest of circumstances we must remember that God is always faithful. God is always working in our life for his glory and the good of his people. Even following the collapse of Jerusalem, God was still faithful to David and gave His Son Jesus, as the offspring of David, who is King forever.
